Low carb keto range supporting low sugar lifestyle and ketogenic diet

Brief & Direction

We’ve been working with Locako since 2018. Ally - the company founder got us on board after validating her business idea by launching bars and coffee creamers with self-designed packaging. 

Ally is a wizard when it comes to coming up with the yummiest treats and supplements. The two products she launched were delicious but the packaging was not on par with the product inside. 

We needed to give the brand a coherent look that utilised the strong flat colours from the previous design while adding taste appeal to the packaging. Since at the time, the brand was sold predominantly online and was marketed mainly through social media, It was important that the packs felt boutique and were Instagram friendly.  Target market - health conscious, active females aged 

The Creative

Because Locako’s products are functional, it was extremely important to clearly communicate the many benefits and claims without boring or overwhelming the consumers. We started the design process by establishing the right information hierarchy making the copy the unsung hero of the pack.

Locako is also all about flavour. While the products are very functional, they are never bland and always come in delicious varieties. We decided to focus on this. Since at the start of working together, Locako was a very small brand, we knew that the best way to communicate flavour will be through a combination of bold colours and illustrations. It’s a treatment that allows the pack to be kept simple yet fun and adds a boutique feel without breaking the budget. Each Locako pack features flat, hand-drawn illustrations of the main flavour or ingredients.

While looking great this style allows for the quick creation of new flavours or lines that wouldn’t be as easy if the packs featured photography. What we love about working with Locako is that it’s a brand that truly understands who they are and is true to its-tasty-self.

This allows us to create packs that work well in-store and not just on highly stylised photography on social media. The consistent illustration and typography style we chose for the packaging allows us to grow and expand the ranges while still making them all feel very ‘Locako’.

Product Success Story

Online and offline, across Australia and all over the globe. Among other stores, in Australia Locako is now sold in Woolworths and it feels like for this once smaller brand, the sky's the limit. It’s been amazing to be a part of Ally and Locako’s journey
